Mabel Makun, the estranged wife of renowned comedian Ayo Makun has addressed reports that her marriage has crashed.
She gave a candid answer while discussing the current status of her marriage.
She admitted that her hopes for a lasting partnership with Ayo Makun have taken an unforeseen turn. Despite the obstacles, she affirmed her resolve to confront the situation with poise and strength.
Mabel has faced unwarranted accusations and criticism on social media, yet she reiterated her dedication to maintaining her silence for the well-being of her two children.
She emphasized the need to shield their children from negativity to safeguard their mental health and overall happiness.
Additionally, she underscored the significance of respecting her former spouse’s privacy and upholding a certain level of dignity concerning their personal affairs.
Mabel clarified that her silence should not be interpreted as agreement with the rumors or misinformation circulating online.
In her words;
“ I want to express my sincere gratitude for the supportive messages that I have received from everyone.
However, my silence should not be misunderstood and also the father of my children whom I have been with for some years deserves a certain level of respect and privacy from me and all the concerned parties. Most importantly because of our children whose mental health and general well-being should be prioritized.
Many lies have been peddled against me and attacks orchestrated on the social media space but I will honor my kids with my silence and not address any of these lies.
Although my dreams of a lifelong marriage have taken a different direction now, I’m committed to moving forward with grace and resilience. I have faith in a brighter future for both myself and the children. Despite the rumors or opinions, I find comfort in the belief that all will be well.
While it’s unexpected for things to end this way, I quietly ask for guidance from my faith as I step into this new chapter of life. Also as we navigate this change, I ask for your help in creating an atmosphere of respect and understanding. This is a challenging period, and I ask for privacy and consideration as we (my ex-husband and I) find our own path forward.
Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, a popular veteran comedian also known as Ali Baba has reacted to the crash of Ayo Makun and Mabel Makun’s marriage.
He warned Nigerians against taking sides in the ongoing marital crisis involving the celebrity couple.
The veteran broadcaster and comedian took to his Instagram story to give the warning.
He narrated the story of a couple who faced a similar situation, where one partner tried to falsely implicate the other after a serious fight, only to be proven wrong by CCTV footage.
He wrote:
“Dont choose sides until you know the whole story. Some are really skilled at making others look bad.”
Although Ali Baba did not mention any names in his post, it coincided with AY’s announcement about the end of his marriage with Mabel Makun.
Ayo Makun confirmed the breakup of their nearly 20-year relationship, expressing regret over the loss of his long-built home and acknowledging his own mistakes during the marriage.
He emphasized the importance of not spreading false narratives about him and his family, especially for the sake of his teenage daughter.
Ayo Makun also pointed out that nobody is completely innocent and criticized the tendency for women to always portray themselves as victims and come out on top.
