Ayra Starr has openly shared her wish to collaborate with Rihanna, whom she regards as her inspiration.
During Rihanna’s recent Fenty event, the Barbadian singer herself expressed interest in working together with the Nigerian artist.
The two musicians were captured on camera conversing on the black carpet.
Rihanna mentioned to Ayra Starr that her cousin from Barbados introduced her to her music, following the Nigerian star’s declaration that the Caribbean island was her “favorite place in the world.”
The mother of two added,
“I’ve been hearing of Ayra Starr, I don’t know who but my cousin she was like, ‘Oh my God I got this [song] from Ayra Starr.’ She was obsessed with you.”
She then asked,
“Do you have a song with Tems?”
Ayra Starr replied,
“That’s my sister. We do have songs but we don’t have a song [out] yet. But soon..”
Recall that Rihanna, the billionaire singer, has revealed she plans to expand her family by having more children with her partner, A$AP Rocky.
Despite already having two kids in under three years, she expressed her openness to the idea.
Rihanna mentioned that she had been hoping for a daughter but ended up having boys instead.
This revelation was made during her feature in the latest edition of Interview Magazine.
“As many as God wants me to have… I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy,” she said.
The Barbadian superstar also gushed about how stylish his American partner, rapper A$AP Rocky is.
She said,
“I be feeling bummy as s**t next to this man. I feel like, goddamn, I look like his assistant. I’m getting on a plane. We should be in sweats. He wants to be in a full Bottega suit. I’m like, ‘Why you got to do that to me?’”
Remember how A$AP Rocky revealed his romance with Rihanna in a GQ interview in 2021?
The couple welcomed their first child, a son named RZA, on May 19, 2022. They had their second son, Riot Ross, in August 2023.
In another interview, Ayra Starr stated that she got into the university at the age of 14.
According to her, she obtained her degree early since her mother insisted on her graduation before pursuing her music career, and she aspired to be a teenage pop sensation.
She revealed this in a recent interview with the American media conglomerate Billboard News.
Starr recounted:
“I got into the university at 14. I feel like my mum has been using music to blackmail me since I was a child. She was like, ‘If you want to do music, you have to do this.’ When she suggested we relocate to Lagos from Benin Republic, I declined initially, but she convinced me that Lagos is the land of music.
“She insisted that if I want to do music, I would have to finish school first. Usually, a lot of people in Nigeria finish secondary school at 15, 16. I knew that if I waited till I’m 15 [before completing my secondary school], I won’t be able to be a teenage pop star. And I wanted to be a teenage pop star. So, I joined my elder brother and wrote JAMB, what you guys called SAT here.
“To be honest, the result wasn’t crazy to get me onto all these Ivy League schools but it was enough to pass by. It was enough for my mum. I got admitted into a good school. My course was for three years. It was International Relations. And immediately after my graduation, I started doing music covers online and that same year I got signed [to Mavin Records label].”
