Nigerian actress, Dayo Amusa has opened up that although she’s an independent woman, she still needs love and affection.

The movie star, who keeps her love life secret, added that she is presently independent because she accepts responsibility for her life and refuses to play the blame game with anybody or make people her scapegoat for her mistakes.

She remarked that she does not let her culture or religion define her. According to her, just because she is a woman does not imply that she is less beautiful than a guy, and her skin tone does not diminish her beauty.

Dayo stated that she is free to pick her companions, views, system, and standards based on what she believes is best for her. She stated that she can stand on her own if necessary, but she does not brag about it or make others feel small because they are unable to be independent.

Dayo, on the other hand, made it clear that being independent does not imply that she does not need love, that she enjoys going home alone, despises men, or is unable to submit. She went on to say that she wants to be cared for and pampered by her spouse, as well as having doors opened for her, being treated to dinner, and being protected and covered.

She wrote:

“I am independent because I take responsibility for my life. I refuse to play the blame game on anyone or make other people scapegoats for my failures.

I do not allow the culture or religion to define me. Just because I am a woman doesn’t mean I am less than a man. Just because my skin may be darker or lighter than someone else’s doesn’t make me any less beautiful.

I am empowered to choose my companions, belief system & standards, based on what I feel is right for me. I can stand on my own if need be, but I do not boast about it or make others feel small just because they can’t.

Being independent doesn’t mean I do not need love. It doesn’t mean I like going home alone. It doesn’t mean I hate men or that I won’t submit.

It doesn’t mean I will stop being feminine, sexy & ladylike. I still want to be cared for & pampered by my partner.

I desire to have doors opened & be treated to dinner. I still want to be protected & covered with assurance that everything is going to be okay.

YES, I Love my independence”.

Dayo Amusa touches on being independent

Recall that, Dayo Amusa, a Nollywood actress, has denounced the awarding of the ‘Best Dressed Female’ to popular crossdresser Bobrisky at a recent movie premiere.

According to the Etikonaija, Bobrisky won the Best Dressed Female award at the movie premiere in Lagos over the weekend and got a monetary reward of N1 million.

However, in a video message posted on her Instagram account, Amusa stated that it was a mockery of the ladies present at the event.

She said:

“I was at a colleague of mine premiere yesterday, they said the best dressers are to be picked; one female and one male best dresser. Don’t get me wrong, the winner could be anyone but definitely not a crossdresser. I mean, what’s wrong with us? I don’t understand it.

“I cannot imagine the judges disrespecting every woman that was there. You had to pick a winner, a female best dressed and a male best dressed and you watered the efforts of all the women at the event by giving the best dressed female to a crossdresser. I don’t understand, what is wrong with us?

“If you feel you want to honour crossdressers, you should have created their own category instead of disrespecting women by giving a crossdresser the best dressed female award.”
