Lionel Messi,  has reportedly given his eighth Ballon d’Or to the Barcelona Museum.

The gesture by the Argentinian was reported by  Spanish writer Miquel Blázquez.

He reported that Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has agreed to donate his 8th Ballon d’Or to the Barcelona Museum.

In an X post, Blázquez wrote: “Leo Messi has donated his eighth Ballon d’Or to the Barça museum. Although he did not win it as a Barça footballer, the Argentine star has made the gesture of giving it up so that it can be displayed along with the other seven he has won. Impossible not to miss him. #FCBarcelona” (English translated).

Lionel Messi, Argentina’s captain, won a record eighth Ballon d’Or in October 2023, defeating Norway’s UEFA Player of the Year and triple winner Erling Haaland.

The Argentine sensation left the La Liga powers in 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

After two seasons in France, the 36-year-old decided to pursue his American dream in Major League Soccer last summer.
