Nigerian music star Davido, born David Adeleke, has shown his backing for Tunde Onakoya, a well-known chess expert striving to set a new Guinness World Record.
Onakoya, at the age of 29, has attracted widespread attention with his ambition to establish a fresh record for the longest chess marathon, aiming for an impressive 58 hours of continuous play without a loss.
After singer Adekunle Gold’s recent visit to Times Square to express solidarity with Tunde Onakoya, Davido also stepped in to lend his support.
Online videos captured the moment Davido, accompanied by his wife Chioma, manager Asa Asika, and various other members of his 30BG team, arrived at the chess venue.
The clips depicted a throng of Nigerians gathered around Onakoya, drumming and singing in encouragement.
Their enthusiasm reached new heights upon spotting Davido’s arrival, leading them to chant his moniker ‘OBO’.
Onakoya responded to the gesture by warmly embracing the musician before resuming his match.
