Nigerian comedian and skitmaker, Sabinus has mourned the death of actor, Junior Pope.
This is as tributes pour in for the talented actor who died after a boat he was in collided with a canoe.
The tragic incident happened during filming at the River Niger.
Videos circulating online show the actor’s lifeless body being recovered from the river, along with four others whose identities have not yet been disclosed.
In a heartfelt tribute, comedian Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, also known as Sabinus or Mr Funny, shared a video of his last moments with Junior Pope. He expressed his grief over the loss and mentioned the unfinished projects they had together.
Sabinus, who struggled to come to terms with the news, spoke about how Junior Pope had supported him during a series shoot. He fondly remembered the late actor’s humility and encouragement, which had endeared him to his heart.
He wrote:
“Baba No Na We Still Have Unfinished Job. This CaNt Be True 💔💔💔 Ahhhhh !! You came through for me when I needed you on my job you treated me like a brother 🥹 Humility And Encouragement Was Part Of Your Lifestyle Ahhhh.
We did a job on sabi ride in just 1 hour we finished it , baba was so good and spontaneous ahhh this one pain me.”
In the wake of actor Junior Pope’s tragic death, which occurred as a result of a boating accident while returning from a movie set, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has taken decisive action.
The AGN President, Emeka Rollas, has issued a statement announcing the suspension of all movies involving riverine areas and boat riding across the country.
Additionally, Rollas has prohibited all actors from participating in any movie produced by Adamma Luke.
Adamma Luke is the producer of the movie in which Junior Pope was featured before his untimely demise. On Wednesday, April 10, Junior Pope and four other crew members were involved in an accident while riding on a boat, leaving the movie location.
Tragically, Junior Pope and one other crew member, identified as Friday, have been confirmed dead, while the bodies of the remaining three crew members are still missing.
Furthermore, the AGN has declared that there will be no shooting in movie locations worldwide on Thursday, April 10, as a mark of respect. The movie “The Other Side Of Life,” produced by Adamma Luke, has also been suspended until further notice.
