Austin Eguavoen Not Super Eagles Interim Coach – NFF

Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has denied rumors that Austin Eguavoen has been named temporary coach of the Super Eagles following Jose Peseiro’s resignation.

Last Thursday, Jose Peseiro announced his departure as Eagles coach after leading Nigeria to second place in the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Following his departure, former Super Eagles coach Austin Eguaveon was said to have been hired on an interim basis until the football regulatory body named a permanent coach for the squad.

The NFF president, Gusau, has disputed the claims.

Eguavoen led the squad to a bronze medal at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations before taking on an interim role in 2010 following Lars Lagerback’s resignation.

In 2021, when German Gernot Rohr was fired, Eguavoen assumed leadership of the team and led it to the last 16 in the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon before stepping down as temporary coach.

The NFF president also denied rumors that the federation met with Peseiro to prolong his contract with the Eagles.

Recall that Jose Peseiro publicly announced that he is no longer the Super Eagles head coach.

The Portuguese tactician announced this in a brief message on the social media platform X on Friday.

“Yesterday, we concluded our contract with the NFF.

“It was a pride and honor to coach the Super Eagles. It has been 22 months of immense dedication, sacrifice, emotion, and enormous enthusiasm. We feel a sense of fulfillment.

“We would like to express our gratitude to Sir Amaju Pinnick (the president who signed us), President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, Secretary Dayo Enebi, the NFF, all the Staff, and especially all the PLAYERS, with whom leading has been a great pleasure.

“Guys, we are thankful; it has been a privilege to be part of this family. We will miss you, but we will always be there for you, no matter where you are. A big hug to all of you.” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Khloe, a Nigerian reality TV star, has encouraged women to cheat back if they are cheated on.

She said this while teaching ladies how to handle a cheating partner.

She communicated via her Snapchat story.

Khloe remarked that one thing women should understand regarding infidelity is that there is no turning back.
