Tinubu Poses With Super Eagles And Honors Them With The MON Award (Photos)

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has presented the country’s national team, the Super Eagles with the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) award.

The award was presented to the Super Eagles squad members in recognition of their success at the just completed CAF 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In addition to recognizing their accomplishment, the federal government, represented by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has provided each member of the team with a piece of land and a flat, the location of which has yet to be disclosed.

President Tinubu, who received the national football team, expressed satisfaction with the squad and recognized their role in creating unity across the country via their outstanding performance.

Despite finishing second, he advised them to keep their heads up and continue their team spirit.

Troost Ekong, the team’s deputy captain and holder of the 2023 CAF AFCON Most Valuable Player award, thanked President Tinubu for his support and emphasized his wish to give a trophy rather than a silver medal.

Recall that, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has responded to the Super Eagles’ loss to Côte d’Ivoire in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.

The Super Eagles lost the AFCON final 2-1 against the Elephants of Ivory Coast in a thrilling contest on Sunday night.

On Sunday night, Atiku responded to the defeat with a message on his official X profile (previously Twitter), saying the outcome was not what all Nigerians across the world expected.

The PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate stated that despite the defeat in the final and the loss of the AFCON trophy, every Nigerian will continue to support the Super Eagles.

Atiku stated that he was still proud of the Super Eagles and praised them for their hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice in getting this far in the competition.
