Kanu Nwankwo, a Nigerian football legend, has sent a message wishing Nigeria’s Super Eagles victory over Ivory Coast in Sunday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON, final.
Both teams advanced to the AFCON final by defeating South Africa and DR Congo, respectively, in the AFCON semi-finals a few days ago.
The Super Eagles overcame Ivory Coast 1-0 in the Group A match last month.
However, in a tweet on his official X account before the AFCON final, Kanu backed Jose Peseiro’s team to defeat the Elephants.
“KAN U believe it? Incredible atmosphere here at the AFCON a few hours to the finals,”
“Wishing Nigeria victory against the host country Ivory Coast.
“Let’s get this Super Eagles.” Kanu wrote
In other news, Nwankwo Kanu has asserted that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), will return to Nigeria.Kanu, who feels the Super Eagles are poised to make history, stated this while supporting Jose Peseiro’s team to defeat South Africa in Wednesday’s AFCON semi-final.
The Arsenal icon talked in a video posted on his X account on Wednesday morning.
“The boys have done us proud. Semifinals here we come. I told you we are going to be in the finals and we are going to win this tournament. Pray for them, support them, wish them the best luck,”
“This is our cup. It’s coming back home. Come on Super Eagles. You can do this, it is remaining only two games, history to be made.” Kanu said.
Recall that Nigeria had defeated Angola in the quarterfinal, while South Africa defeated Cape Verde.
