Lateef Adedimeji, a Nigerian filmmaker and movie actor, has shared his experience of being underpaid despite playing lead roles in movies.

He emphasized that he viewed this period as a valuable learning experience. The renowned actor, known for his role in ‘Jagun Jagun,’ reminisced about receiving as little as N4,000 for a lead role back in 2014, a decade ago.

However, Lateef Adedimeji mentioned that his payment gradually increased, and by 2015, he started earning between N100,000 to N200,000 for a role.

These revelations were made during his appearance on the latest episode of the ‘Deep Dive’ podcast, hosted by comedian Teju Babyface.

Lateef Adedimeji said:

“If I tell people that I wasn’t collecting N100,000, N200,000 until 2015/16, a lot of people would not believe me.

“Before then, the highest I collected for a lead role was either N4,000, N5,000, or N10,000. I was paid that low back in 2014 because it was more like a learning process.”

Nollywood actress Bimpe Oyebanji Adedimeji, nicknamed Mo Bimpe, has recounted the difficulties she endured simply by marrying famous actor Lateef Adedimeji.

According to her, she was humiliated and cursed online for marrying her spouse.

In a recent podcast, Mo Bimpe said that she has been ridiculed regularly since marrying her husband.

Her words are:

“Since I got married to my husband, the trolls have increased, from one troll to another. In fact, I get trolled on my social media accounts every day since I got married to Lateef Adedimeji.”
Mo Bimpe gave an instance of a lady, who trolled her and went to her husband’s page the next day to ask him to marry her as a second wife.
“An instance was when a lady came to my page and asked when I was going to get pregnant or something and I was like what kind of comment was that and fans took her up and she was responding to the fans, insulting and cursing some others. One thing I am sure of is that trolls don’t have a happy life.

They are not happy, they are sad, they don’t have a life and don’t have anything doing or going good for them. I feel like trolls are miserable and they just want to talk.

They just want other people to be sad like them. So, this instance I gave earlier on, after all this lady did on my page, she went on my husband’s page a day after and asked him to marry her as his second wife. At the end of the day, I am living well, I am happy and it is the trolls’ loss.”
