The University of Nigeria (UNN) management has suspended Mfonobong David Udoudom, the male lecturer who was found in a compromising position with a married student.
Udoudom, who hails from Akwa Ibom, is a member of the General Studies Programme (GSP) Unit, where he instructs courses on Peace and Conflict Resolution as well as Nigerian People and Culture.
The incident took place in his office at the GSP complex on Monday, April 22.
According to reports, the lecturer is said to have purportedly requested sexual favors from the student in return for grades.
Upon learning about this, the student informed her husband, and together with the assistance of the Dean of student affairs and school security, they devised a plan to expose the lecturer. Eventually, they successfully caught him in the act.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the University, Dr Okwun Omeaku, announced that the lecturer has been indefinitely suspended with immediate effect.
This suspension will remain in place until the University’s disciplinary panel concludes its investigation into the incident.
“The management of the University of Nigeria has suspended Mr (not a Professor) Mfonobong David Udoudom, a lecturer in our General Studies division, who was caught in a video allegedly harassing a female student,” the statement read.
“The indefinite suspension is with immediate effect pending the outcome of a disciplinary panel constituted by the University to investigate the incident.
The University’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Okwun Omeaku, has announced in a statement that the suspension is indefinite and will take immediate effect.
This decision has been made pending the outcome of an investigation conducted by a disciplinary panel formed by the University.

What was meant to be a celebration of life for the deceased turned into chaos. Ex students came out to rain curses on him for what he made them go through during their days with him.
