The notification of the pending DNA test application for Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has been ordered by the Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu through substituted means. This information was conveyed in a statement signed by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family’s legal team, and obtained by PUNCH Metro on Wednesday.

In the application submitted by Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, the family requested an order to serve Wunmi by posting all the necessary legal documents related to the case at her last-known address.

As per the statement, Emmanuel Oroko, leading the legal team, argued that the sheriff had made two unsuccessful attempts to serve Wunmi with the court process.

Dumosu stated;

“If the process were served on the last-known address of the respondent by Order of the Court, it would constitute good service and she would be aware of the pending suit. The Chief Magistrate granted the order and ordered that the respondent be served by posting the court process on her last known address.

“It will be recalled that the Aloba family is contesting the paternity of baby Liam and filed an application before the Family Court wherein it sought an order of the court against Wunmi to present herself and baby Liam for a DNA test at any recognised laboratory in Lagos.”

He stated that the singer’s spouse, in a widely circulated video, expressed her willingness to undergo a DNA test. She also mentioned that she had never been present for the court sheriff to deliver the initial motion.

Nevertheless, Odumosu revealed that the case had been postponed until the following month to await the service report.

Upon reaching out to Wunmi’s attorney, Taiwo Olawanle, he claimed to be unaware of the court’s decision.

He stated,

“We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it. That is not a problem. But we are not aware of any order. I am just hearing that from you.”

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, which resulted in a wave of controversies on social media regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.

After parting ways with Marlian Music, the record label owned by Naira Marley, in February 2022, Mohbad’s demise prompted the Lagos State Police Command to establish a 13-member special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to delve into the details of the singer’s death.

Furthermore, Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, a controversial Lagos socialite also known as Sam Larry, were arrested in connection with the incident.

To determine the cause of his death, Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, 2023.
