Cubana Chief Priest, a well-known Instagram personality and celebrity barman, has been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegations of financial misconduct.

The EFCC officials, who preferred to remain anonymous, disclosed to Linda Ikeji’s Blog (LIB) that Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, is currently detained and is scheduled to appear in court on April 17, 2024.

The accusations against Chief Priest are centered around his involvement in various events, including one at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on February 13, 2024, as well as events in Lagos in January 2024 and a previous occasion in 2020. The exact timing of his arrest has not been revealed, but it is confirmed that he is in the custody of the EFCC.

Recall that, The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed it has detained controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, in Lagos State.

The commission said on Thursday that Bobrisky was apprehended on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in Pinnock Estate, Lagos.

The arrest is reported to be connected to an alleged misuse of the naira money during a movie premiere.

Filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi turned to social media to spread the news, adding that Bobrisky was detained by the EFCC on Wednesday afternoon and spent the night in detention.

Oloketuyi’s post reads:

“According to reports, Bobrisky was arrested by @officialefcc Wednesday afternoon and he spent the night in their Cell.”

The specific circumstances of Bobrisky’s alleged naira abuse at the movie premiere remain unknown.

However, the arrest has aroused extensive discussion and conjecture on social media sites. It is worth noting that the EFCC has not yet published an official announcement on Bobrisky’s arrest.

The judge further ordered that he be returned to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s custody until the decision. Bobrisky previously pleaded guilty to the EFCC’s allegation of abusing the naira.

He informed the court that he was unaware of the legislation of naira abuse and asked the Judge to enable him to utilize his platform to educate Nigerians and the public.

However, Justice Awogboro denied his motion, stating that ignorance of the law was no justification.

He was originally charged with six counts, but two of them were withdrawn after a conversation between the parties.

The charges brought against the crossdresser are:
