Dr Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, has opened up on when the autopsy of the late musician Mohbad will be released.
Following his death, the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, had an autopsy performed on his remains.
Somiari stated that the autopsy will be completed in the following three or four weeks.
He dropped the clue while testifying at a coroner’s inquest investigating the singer’s death on Wednesday.
The witness was cross-examined by defense counsel during the inquest.
Recall that the musician died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.
His death sparked controversy across the country and abroad, causing the Lagos State Government to order a coroner’s investigation into his death.
The inquest, which began on October 13, 2023, is being held in the Ikorodu Magistrates Court.
Somiari informed the coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi:
“We expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of the death.“We searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in the death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned.”The forensic expert assured the public of adequate security and monitoring of samples for the autopsy.“We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad,” he said.
Wunmi, the wife of the late singer, Mohbad has written an emotional tribute to her late husband.
She revealed in a post shared on her social media page on Sunday that she still cries every day over the sad passing of her husband, Mohbad.
According to her, she is yet to get over his death.
Her tribute comes months after the police started an investigation into the death of the singer. Several months have gone by with the police delaying the autopsy result to determine the cause of the singer’s death.
Baring her mind, she wrote:
“The cherished husband of my youth, the loving father of our child. It still feels surreal, as if reality hasn’t fully sunk in since you departed from this world. Is it true that you’re not coming back? Is this truly the end for us and for our son Liam? All our dreams, our plans and promises sh*red in an instant. I can’t accept ever again experiencing the joy 00 our playful banter, our inside jokes, or our silly dance moves and much more
