Nollywood legend, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu has reportedly passed away.
According to blogger, Tosin Silverdam, the veteran actor died on Saturday 2nd March 2024.
Tosin claimed that the legendary actor passed on in the early hours of today at Evercare hospital where he has been receiving treatment since his leg was amputated.
Speaking on Saturday, Tosin said he confirmed the sad passing of the actor whom he thought was getting better following the amputation of one of his legs.
The sad passing of Mr Ibu has also been confirmed by Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Confirming Ibu’s death, Rollas took to Instagram and wrote:
“Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor.
I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didnt make it.
May his soul rest in peace.”

The news of Mr Ibu’s death comes just hours after his adopted daughter Jasmine Okekeagwu, had revealed why she ended her marriage.
The content creator said her marriage ended after she found out her husband’s real age.
According to Jasmine, her ex-husband had told her that he was 38, but she later found out on their wedding day that he was actually 51 years old.
Recall that Jasmine and her husband parted ways in November 2022.
Jasmine also stated that her estranged husband lied about his previous marriage and kids.
She made these revelations during an interview with popular media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
“I was with my ex-husband for nine months and I did not get pregnant. Now this is where the story got very tricky. This man told me he had never married and he had never gotten a lady pregnant before in his life.
“He told me he was 38 years old but I found out my husband was 51 on our wedding day. Imagine finding out such a thing on a wedding day.
“Many people had different experiences with him. He promised about five girls marriages. And when I was going through my husband’s phone I started seeing a lot of girls, most of which are Yoruba, and big big TikTokers,” she added.
In other news, singer, Harrysong has been called out by his estranged wife, Alexer Peres Harry.
In a post on Instagram, Alexer asked the general public to hold Harrysong responsible should anything happen to her children.
She also revealed that the singer has not been fulfilling his fatherly role.
According to her, the singer had agreed on co-parenting but suddenly changed his mind.
She further revealed that the singer seized her phone before wiping all evidence she had against him.
She wrote: “@iamharrysong If anything happens to my kids you’ll be held responsible. #deadbeat.
“Those receipts you think you documented I have more too. You think is by blocking me. Let’s co-parent in peace you agreed for just a month and now you say you won’t take responsibility anymore. How? Seized my phone, wiped everything including all evidence I had. You’re still threatening my mom. Have kept quiet enough not anymore.”
