Controversial Nigerian musician Naira Marley has experienced a boom in his social media fan base.
He has now regained 100,000 followers in the last few weeks.
This follows a dramatic drop of more than 500,000 followers in the middle of scandal and public protest the previous year over the death of Mohbad.
The terrible murder of Mohbad set off the turbulent events of last year and resulted in a barrage of criticism aimed against Naira Marley and his assistant, Sam Larry.
Social media users voiced their complaints and accused the musician and his crew of being part of the regrettable event.
Following Mohbad’s passing, a substantial portion of Naira Marley’s fan base and followers cut ties with him by going on a major unfollowing spree.
The artist’s scandal intensified when damning videos surfaced, exacerbating the situation.
Furthermore, several music outlets, including MTVBase and Soundcity, openly announced that they were no longer associated with Naira Marley’s music.
They said that they would not be playing his songs, which was a big blow to the musician.
But in an unexpected turn of events, Naira Marley’s Instagram profile now has 100,000 more followers, which has allowed him to get some traction again on social media.
The intense criticism he faced seems to have lessened, according to observers, with some Nigerians even showing signs of forgiving him.

Meanwhile, Joseph Aloba, the father of late singer Ileriouluwa Oladimeji aka Mohbad, has tackled his son’s wife Omowunmi.
He was reacting to her recent remarks.
In an Instagram post, Wunmi had disclosed details of his passing and stated that bullies in the music business had stopped her from speaking about the singer’s passing.
The single mother released a voicemail she had made years ago, further expressing her helplessness and accusing the bullies of targeting her.
Speaking about the demands for her son’s DNA that her father-in-law was making, she said that it made her cry and hurt because the late musician never once doubted their son’s paternity when he was alive.
Speaking up now, Joseph Aloba attacked Omowunmi, accusing her of emotional blackmail. He said that her continual pleas for public sympathy are terrible, humiliating, and embarrassing.
He questioned her about the individuals attempting to quiet her, asking whether, in his position, she wouldn’t act in the same way. He pointed out that she was given the chance to speak out during the Corona Inquest, but she remained mute.
He challenged her, saying that no one is safe with her until she stands out and tells the public what she knows about his death.
This comes after Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Mohbad, wrote an emotional tribute to her late husband.
She revealed in a post shared on her social media page on Sunday that she still cries every day over the sad passing of her husband, Mohbad.
According to her, she has yet to get over his death.
Her tribute comes months after the police started an investigation into the death of the singer. Several months have gone by with the police delaying the autopsy result to determine the cause of the singer’s death.
Baring her mind, she wrote:
“The cherished husband of my youth, the loving father of our child. It still feels surreal, as if reality hasn’t fully sunk in since you departed from this world. Is it true that you’re not coming back? Is this truly the end for us and for our son Liam? All our dreams, our plans and promises sh*red in an instant.
