Kanye West, an American rapper, has announced that he will tour African nations in 2024 and 2025, including Lagos, Nigeria, and Nairobi, Kenya.
The rapper revealed this in a post on his Instagram story on Wednesday, February 7.
The article mentioned possible tour dates, which included Lagos, Nigeria, and Nairobi, Kenya’s Nyayo International Stadium.
It also stated that Kanye West’s tour will begin in Toronto, Canada, in June 2024 and go across the United States until August, when it will head to Mexico. Kanye will travel to Spain, Egypt, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates before visiting Kenya and Nigeria in December.
Kanye will leave Africa in January 2025 and go to Australia before wrapping up his trip in Japan in February.
In other news, Nigerian actor, Kunle Remi and actress, Yvonne Jegede have slammed the Lagos State government following viral videos showing Lagos State residents waiting in line to purchase rice bags from the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) for N10,000.
Recall that Customs said that the distribution of seized food goods will begin today, Friday, February 23.
In a statement to the press in Lagos, NCS Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi said that customs personnel are not permitted to participate in the procedure.
In the video, the women lined up in an organized fashion, going one after the other to get the bag of rice they had paid for.
According to a statement published by the service’s National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, Adeniyi indicated that the rice will be packed in 25kg bags and priced at N10,000.
He stated that the target groups included craftsmen, teachers, nurses, religious organizations, and other Nigerians in its operational regions.
The goal, he stated, is to develop direct connections with members via these established procedures to ensure the initiative’s maximum efficacy.
Adeniyi urged against reselling food goods, noting that the NCS is committed to openness and responsibility throughout the process.
This has made many Nigerians upset, and many have expressed their dissatisfaction in blog comments. Kunle Remi, a movie star, jokingly challenged the federal government to include additional foodstuffs besides rice.
“Please they should add FG stew and small fish.. with ONE long seized plantain. Just one.”
“Sanwo Olu, Why feed us? Why can’t you just employ us? Get people out to start digging sewages, laying pipes underground, sweeping the streets and paying them as little as minimum wage, since the industrial sector is almost dead. Why would you even prefer to feed your citizens “Mama Put”, taxpayers have been reduced to beggars... When will someone just have mercy on us?When will someone just feel pity for this great country?Someone in the presidency should please just sorry for us, please , we are not even doing shakara at this point. We all know that at this point NOBODY is happy with this situation…”
