David Adeleke, best known by his stage name Davido, a popular Nigerian musician has revealed something personal about his wife, Chioma Roland, and their marraige.

Davido said in a recent interview that he didn’t have money or fame when he first met Chioma.

He claimed that it would have been difficult for him to get married now if he hadn’t met Chioma at that time since he would have felt that every lady would have wanted him for his wealth or position.

Davido claimed that knowing that the majority of the people in his close circle were there before he became well-known and wealthy makes him happier.

“I have a friend, anytime I am on the phone with my wife, he would say he has everything in the world, but a wife is what he is missing.

I met my wife before I had money, but I was telling myself if I didn’t meet her before then and now I am single, and I meet a girl, it wouldn’t be the same.

I would feel the lady is talking to me because I am Davido and I have money. My own success is when I see people around who were there when I had nothing and they see me now, that’s the feeling, not like when you blow up and start hanging out with a new set of people. You need to keep the people that were there with you since grinding”.

Davido in other news, hailed Grammy-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo. David Adeleke stated that Kidjo provided a platform for a new wave of African musicians to follow.

He mentioned how well the “Wombo Lombo” crooner has done over the years to represent the region on the international front.

Davido, who is enjoying working with the iconic artist, said how much he has been wanting to collaborate with her.

Davido recently stated the following during an interview with CNN’s Inside Africa:

“I’ve always been wanting to work with Mama Africa [Angelique Kidjo], that’s what we call her, for a long long time.

“She can perform anywhere and for different crowds. And she has represented us so well, you know, on the global scene. She opened doors for new artists like myself.”

Remember how David Adeleke collaborated with The Cavemen and Angelique Kidjo on the song “Na Money” off his Grammy-nominated album “Timeless”?
