Famous rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem has revealed the legacy he wants to leave behind.
According to him, he wants the next generation of musicians and Nigerians in general to remember him for speaking the truth.
He said this when he appeared on the most recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast.
Toun Cole, the co-host, posed the following question:
“How would you love this new generation of artists to remember you?”
Abdulkareem simply replied:
“For the truth that I stand for.”
When asked who contemporary singers he would prefer to collaborate with,
The seasoned singer said,
“I plan to collaborate with any new generation Nigerian artist that is conscious enough. Yes, Falz.
“Falz is the only conscious artist in this new generation. Who else? If your music is not adding value, no matter how far it goes, I don’t give a damn, because the lifespan is three or four months.
You will have to do another song to replace that one. But when the song is evergreen, it will always be evergreen.”
Recall that the singer mocked Yorubas who voted for President Bola Tinubu. The veteran rapper maintained that 21 years after releasing his controversial song ‘Jaga Jaga’, which satirized Nigeria’s deplorable living conditions, the country is still in ruin.
According to him, it is those people who voted for Tinubu who are suffering more.
He complained that things were getting worse, pointing out that the dollar’s exchange rate was about to reach N2,000.
He lamented the country’s hardships when appearing as a guest on a recent edition of The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, alias Nedu, Deity Cole, and Husband Material.
Abdulkareem said:
“Nigeria still Jaga Jaga 21 years later. Hunger everywhere, people are dying. How will people survive when Dollar is N1600? Goodluck Jonathan left it N198. [Muhammadu] Buhari took it to N300, [Bola] Tinubu skyrocketed it to N1600.
“Dollar is going to N2000. So how do you want common people to survive in this country? Even the Yorubas they were shouting ‘Emilokan’, they are the ones dying of hunger now.”
