AFCON: ‘We Are So Keen To Turn Against Our Own – Singer Falz Backs Alex Iwobi

Folarin Falana, a prominent Nigerian musician and activist known as Falz the Bad Guy, has turned to social media to support Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi.

Iwobi has received harsh criticism on the internet from Nigerians following his reported bad performance in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Final on Sunday.

Falz defended the player, saying that every single player who wears green and white to represent Nigeria at an AFCON competition makes a sacrifice and does not deserve to be treated poorly.

On Monday evening, the rapper shared a photo of Alex Iwobi on his Instagram page, expressing his admiration for the athlete while also condemning cyberbullying.

Falz wrote:

“We win together, we lose together. Every single player that puts on the green white green to represent us, is making an immense sacrifice and does not deserve to be treated with this much disdain.

“We speak a lot about cyber-bullying but we are so quick to turn against our own. @alexanderiwobi Love you bro! Thank you.”

Recall that Alex Iwobi received a lot of criticism for his performance in the AFCON final against Cote d’Ivoire, which Nigeria lost 2-1.Iwobi, whose performance was judged terrible, received widespread condemnation from Nigerians on various social media sites.

In response, Tunde Ednut shared a video of a man criticizing Iwobi and condemning him for the sort of postings on his Instagram profile, which he claims do not reflect those of a player.

The man went on to call Iwobi an ‘Azaman’ instead.
