Davido a superstar Nigerian musician, songwriter, and record producer, has crowned himself as the leader of Afrobeats worldwide.
This followed his significant contributions to the Afrobeats genre.
The superstar musician made the boast in a recent interview.
He bragged that he is the world’s leading Afrobeats musician. Davido remarked during a recent interview with Billboard’s Nadine Graham.
The DMW boss paused the journalist when he mentioned himself as the leader of Afrobeats in the United States, adding he is leading “everywhere.”
Davido stated that as the worldwide king of Afrobeats, he wants listeners to expect “only good music.” And it’s strange because inmates have heard my songs.”
The singer revealed that he is now working on two albums, one for the African audience and another for the American public.
Davido also mentioned that his favorite collaboration is ‘2 AM’ with Casanova and Tory Lanez since the song combines Canadian, Nigerian, and American cultures.
Davido in other news, hailed Grammy-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo. David Adeleke stated that Kidjo provided a platform for a new wave of African musicians to follow.
He mentioned how well the “Wombo Lombo” crooner has done over the years to represent the region on the international front.
Davido, who is enjoying working with the iconic artist, said how much he has been wanting to collaborate with her.
Davido recently stated the following during an interview with CNN’s Inside Africa:
“I’ve always been wanting to work with Mama Africa [Angelique Kidjo], that’s what we call her, for a long long time.
“She can perform anywhere and for different crowds. And she has represented us so well, you know, on the global scene. She opened doors for new artists like myself.”

The striker gave Davido a multi-million-naira Rolex timepiece when he performed at his 30th birthday celebration recently.
Davido confirmed receiving the watch via his Instagram story, claiming it was the first time he had ever gotten a present, despite other Nigerian celebrities sending him financial gifts for his birthday years ago, which he later gave to charity.
The musician also said that he has always been the one who gives to others.
He wrote:
