President Bola Tinubu has told Nigerians that he will not back down in his fight against corruption in the country.
The President made this statement on Thursday during his remarks at the Red Rail Line project’s opening in Lagos State.
He stated that his government will not back down from its policies and initiatives to combat corruption and make effective use of misappropriated public funds.
He said:
“The fight against corruption is on, we will not look back, we will fight it to ruins.
“Today is to be remembered for good, an evidence that it is good to dream, a serious validation of democracy.”
The President also assured Nigerians that the country will be out of economic problems, ‘we just need to work hard with perseverance’.
He said: “The momentum of greatness that we started has become unstoppable. It is a constant reminder that positive change and progress are possible, and we must attain it. We must adhere to our pledge through perseverance and consistency.
“When you put people at the centre of your vision and planning, you will see the value. I look forward to the completion of other phases.”
In other news, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, aka Charly Boy, a well-known musician and activist, has accused President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress of punishing Nigerians with hunger.
He announced this in a post on his X account on Monday.
“See as APC dey wicked us with hunger and hopelessness. Dia Fathers,” he wrote.
His declaration comes as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reports that Nigeria is witnessing a severe economic crisis.
In a recently published study titled ‘Review of Nigeria’s Post-Financing Assessment,’ the IMF Executive Board voiced concern that Nigeria’s prolonged cost-of-living problem has been exacerbated by stagnating per-capita growth, pervasive poverty, and extreme food insecurity.
However, in the face of mounting hunger and misery in the country, President Bola Tinubu has stated that his administration would do all necessary to increase food production and become a net exporter.
Tinubu provided the guarantee in a statement published by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, following a visit by a group from the Global Tijaniyya Movement led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
